If you are a nightlife gourmet and want to stay away from the touristic treks Istanbul's nightlife is every bit as noteworthy as its historical attractions, as the Turkish capital truly is a hedonist's playground with clubs and bars to suit all tastes. And nowhere is Istanbul's nightlife more buzzing than by the Bosphorus, particularly in the cosmopolitan district of Ortakoy and at Beyogly, former Pera district.
Reina - Popular with investment bankers and celebrities including Sting, Paris Hilton and Gisele Bucheden, Reina in the Ortakoy district is truly the place to party and be seen partying in Istanbul. The club itself has a restaurant, two floors and outdoor terraces overlooking the waterfront - all of which are extremely glamorous, with sparking walls, light features and plush seating booths. Just last year, British newspaper: The Guardian named Reina as the top nightclub in Istanbul. Though the nearby clubs of Sortie, Anjelique, Blackk and Suada are almost as swish and popular.
A wine and cocktail bar with a super-plush interior, Ulus 29 was designed by the man behind the interior of the Sakirin Mosque, making it a place of pilgrimage for Istanbul's night owls. One of the few venues to have a sommelier, Ulus 29 is perfect for people looking to try some Turkish wine while enjoying stunning views across the Bosphorus.
A restaurant by day and bar lounge by night, Lucca is one of the most fashionable nightspots in Istanbul having been voted Istanbul's most hip restaurant by Conde Nast Traveller. Lucca's bar is managed by an award-winning mixologist, so visitors are encouraged to try his famous Satsuma vodkas and mojitos.
Situated on the top of the Besiktas Plaza, this restaurant has stunning views of the Bosphorus and the Asian side of town from three terraces (two of which form part of the restaurant itself, and one of which is devoted to an excellent bar, featured on the World’s Best Bars website). The restaurant offers a great range of Mediterranean and international cuisine, including a sushi bar, and has won Best Restaurant” from the Zagat Survey, among other accolades. Sunday buffet brunch is a particular favorite with regulars, with a full Turkish breakfast as well as continental options The bar is what’s really in Vogue, though; it features classic and innovative cocktails as well as wine list comprising over 200 wines, alongside a cigar list. SUNSET GRILL AND BAR
Located on a hilltop in the posh neighborhood Ulus, Sunset Grill & Bar is awe-inspiring both with its food and its stunning views. This longstanding fine-dining venue offers International and Japanese cuisines at its finest in addition to a few select Turkish dishes. The sushi bar and Chef Takemura’s specials are unquestionably outstanding and are the highlight of Sunset’s menu. Sunset also has probably the largest and most extensive International wine list with rare and expensive wines alongside the more moderately-priced ones. Cigar selections are also available.Sunset is definitely one of the best that Istanbul has to offer with its delicious food, top-quality wines, great service, and spectacular views of the Bosphorus.
The restaurant also has a bar where an upscale party, with different DJs playing nightly between Tuesday through Saturday, takes place. All items from the restaurant are also available at the bar, while a special bar menu with such delicacies as Duck Spring Rolls or Grilled Lamb Satay, are present for sustenance.
When Mikla opened in October of 2005, Chef-Owner Mehmet Gürs’ vision of creating a refined but contemporary “Istanbullu” restaurant was brought to life successfully. In 2012, after extensive research that comprised the entirety of Anatolia and its culinary traditions and ingredients, Mikla launched its ‘New Anatolian Kitchen.’ The menu pays respect to the traditional products and recipes whilst reinterpreting them with a modern outlook in an attempt to understand the land and its people. With a bird’s eye view of Istanbul from the roof top floor of the fashionable “The Marmara Pera Hotel,” the sleek interior is only heightened by the stunning view that stretches to the Hagia Sophia and TopkapÄ± Palace. In the summers, the terrace bar upstairs becomes one of the best places to have a drink while the breeze softens stylish cocktail sipping nights.
The multi award winning 360istanbul is set in a penthouse perched on a 19th century apartment building overlooking the old embassy row in Beyoglu, offers a 360 view of the city - hence its name! It's open for lunch or dinner, offering Turkish cuisine with an international twist. The menu features a lot of fish and European staples such as beef carpaccio, variant starters and pizza as well as traditional Turkish meze and main dishes. The restaurant also prides itself on its extensive wine list. On the weekend 360 transforms into a night club with live performers (often with an unusual twist, for example gyrating wall climbers) and the cocktail bar is packed.
The venue is located on the roof of the 200 year old historical building of Passage de Petit Champs called Nupera today. It has opened in 2001 and has been one of the it places in town for dining to clubbing. Having a magnificent view of the old city Sultanahmet as well as the view of famous Golden Horn makes it one of the best sunsets to watch at aperitif hour. The kitchen is International including tastes from the Turkish cuisine. And after dinner NUTERASs becomes a club that attracts a young and hip clientele from locals to foreigners.
