VISIT OF UCHISAR CASTLE, GOREME OPEN-AIR MUSEUM, PASABAG, AVANOS VILLAGE, DEVRENT VALLEY

The tour starts by picking-up from the hotel and the guests are transported to the tour meeting point.

In ancient geography, Cappadocia, Turkish Kapadokya, was the name of the extensive inland district of Asia Minor.
The name is widely used as an international tourism concept to define a region of exceptional natural wonders characterized by fairy chimneys and a unique historical and cultural heritage.

DEVRENT VALLEY

Our first real encounter with Cappadocia almost Martial landscape is in Devrent Valley that is also known as Imagination or Pink Valley. Here you will not find any churches; there are no castles or tombs because this place was never inhabited. So what makes it so famous?  The lunar landscape!!! The bizarre shapes of the fairy chimneys create the illusion of the lunar landscape. There are also many rocks shaped as animals, which make you feel as if you are in the sculpture zoo created by nature. The most remarkable and easy to see are those of camel, snake, seals and dolphin.

GÖREME OPEN-AIR MUSEUM

Next, we will see, perhaps the most visited site in Cappadocia, Göreme open-air museum, which ” is a nicely packaged instant version of what the whole area has to offer with its bizarre and charming churches and chapels carved into stone. It also holds the region's best collection of painted cave churches. Medieval orthodox Christian monks (1000 - 1200 AD) carved the caves from the soft volcanic stone and decorated them with elaborate Byzantine frescoes. The valley, and other troglodyte (cave- dweller) habitations in Cappadocia, may have been inhabited since Hittite times, but Göreme is known for its thousand-year-old churches.

PAŞABAĞ (MONKS VALLEY)

Then, head to Paşabağ (pron. as Pashabag) or Monks' Valley, which has the most fascinating collection of the fairy chimneys in Cappadocia. These unique formations look like the gigantic mushrooms with twin and even triple rock caps. This style is unique even for Cappadocia and these fairy chimneys are named mushroom shaped fairy chimneys. Some of them split into smaller cones in their upper sections, in which hermits once hid. The hermitage of Simeon monks was also here. A chapel dedicated to St. Simeon (Simon), and a hermit’s shelter is built into one of the fairy chimneys with three heads, and this is where the valley took its other name, Monks' Valley.

ARTISANS' VILLAGE OF AVANOS

After the lunch at one of the local restaurants, you will continue acquaintance with the region and visit a place without which the knowledge of the area is not complete; and this is the artisans' village of Avanos.
This village is famous for its’ red pottery and traditional Turkish carpets. In one of the most famous potteries guests will first see a demonstration from the professionals before they will have a chance to make their own ‘Symbol of art’ – let that artist free inside you!!!
At the carpet factory guests will be introduced to the fascinating process of the weaving of the famous Turkish carpets and then, enjoy unforgettable show of the demonstration of the most beautiful sample.

UCHISAR CASTLE

We will complete our today's adventure at the highest point of the area, Uchisar (pron. as Uch hisar) with a castle of the same name on top of it. The top of the Uchisar Castle provides a magnificent panorama of the surrounding area with Mount Erciyes in the distance. This formidable structure has many rooms hollowed out into the rock and connected to each other with stairs, tunnels and passages. At the entrances of the rooms, there are millstone doors, just like the ones in the underground settlements, used to control access to these places. Return to the hotel
